Traditional Art : Colored Pencils

Time for some vicious colors! Here I'm presenting 3 of my colored pencil works. I love working with colored pencils. They're very easy to handle, they don't take up much space & best of all, they are not very messy so there's very little cleaning to do after!

SEEING EYE TO EYE
Between sharp angles & great bends, there is a common ground. Find it.

Get to know each other, learn to live with one another, co-exist!

LIKE A MOTH TO A FLAME
The story of the moth, abstracted.
Inspired by Janet Jackson's "That's The Way Love Goes" ditty.

ART BLOCK
This came about when my brain froze! I think it took a holiday to Antartica for 3 weeks or something! All those days I remember trying so hard to come up with something to put on paper but to no avail. Then while gobbling down 3 oranges, an idea suddenly popped up in my head. Let's transfer the mental block on paper. Let's turn the ordeal into something tangible. And so the spell was broken. Must be the vitamin c overload from them oranges!

And that's all folks!

Cheers,
Speedy.

FractoBot Series

I call them FRACTOBOTS cos they are made of fractals. What I do is I create a fractal in a fractal software called APOPHYSIS (free software again!) & then I wud take parts of that fractal & turn them into patterns in MS Paint & I put all the different patterns together to form a robot. After that I enhanced the final product in a photo editing software.

Meet the bots!

BOSSBOT

cos someone said he looks like a bender!

SHAMANBOT

MAHARAJA MONKEYBOT

ABBYBOT
cos she looks like Abby Mallard from Chicken Little.

PIRATEBOT

And since this entry is about bots, I might as well post this other bot too (not from the FRACTOBOTS series tho) :

This is another piece done in INKSCAPE . Just something fun & cool & colorful. It's called ROBOTRANCE , a raver bot!

Me likes robots ! You like robots ???

Speedy

Crazy Abstract Art .

Have a look at this video just for a laugh.

I hope none of u abstract artists out there are offended. It's funny how some people view abstract art. They'll say a child can do that or say what's so difficult about slapping paint here & there. Of course it's easy to slap paint on a canvas but can ur slaps create visual harmony, how do u arrange & choose the colors of the slaps to convey concept & emotions etc. And what kind of slaps, aggressive, a light pat. Then there are the textures. There are techniques involved whether done fast or over a period of time. I myself love abstract art. They're like intrumentals, music without words, or soundscapes that make u feel & see things that may or may not be there. There's always a story there even if one doesn't get it.

Here's an abstract artist from Austria whose works I absolutely love - STEFAN @ ARTBREAK . Enjoy!

Speedy

The Virgin Post !!!

.......but I don't mind as long as there's a bed beneath the stars that shine, I'll be fine, if you give me a minute, a man's got a limit I can't get a life if my heart's not in it hey hey......
they all sound the same u know. Songs by Oasis that is. Yet I find myself enjoying them very much! Anyhow, I'm listening to them while I'm writing this first entry. Don't quite know what to write but I guess I should tell u what I'm here for. Well, the intention is to share my art with the community here & to get some feedback on them of course! And maybe make an artist or alien friend or 10 along the way.

Since this is my virgin entry, I will share with u my first piece of INKSCAPE art but before that, u might ask, what exactly is INKSCAPE ? Well, it is a kick ass open source (meaning free!) vector software. If u like to draw but don't quite like the mess of traditional mediums then I suggest u try this wicked digital software. For more info on this software, just click on the link I've provided. You can learn how to use it by viewing excellent tutorials at SCREENCASTERS.HEATHENX.ORG or at LEARN DIGITAL DESIGN. There's also an INKSCAPE FORUM where u can ask whatever questions u have about the software. If u wanna see what artists & designers come up with when using INKSCAPE , have a look thru DEVIANT ART'S gallery. Also, there's a very very gifted artist on FLICKR who uses INKSCAPE & he makes fantastic, mind-blowing realism art. U will think you're looking at a photo but in actual fact it's a digital drawing! Check out this extremely talented artist, GILLES PINARD. He's got some cool tutorials as well.

Spotlight, back on me please! And here's my first piece that I created using INKSCAPE . It's nowhere near the brilliant works of Mr Pinard but hey, I hope u enjoy it's simplicity anyway. Now I know my blog is about Color Art so u might be thinking why the hell am I posting a black & white piece & to that I wanna say black & white are colors too, so there! I named this one, SCENE . Drop me some comments on it won't cha? Tell me what u think about it.

I'll be updating this blog as & when I please so if u feel like u don't care to wait for my next entry to see what art else I post then u can always go & check out my other works at VISCIOUS-SPEED.DEVIANTART.COM !!!

Til the next post, see ya & have a good one!

Cheers,
Speedy
